JU VC mourns death of Kalidas Karmakar
DHAKA, Oct 20, 2019 (BSS) – Jahangirnagar University(JU) Vice-Chancellor(VC) Professor Dr Farzana Islam has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Ekushey Padak winner and internationally-acclaimed artist Kalidas Karmakar.
In a message of condolence message today, Professor Dr Farzana Islam expressed her profound shock and said the painter was specially acclaimed among the artists for his experimental art works.
The VC said, Kalidas Karmakar’s artworks are modern and thought-provoking. He received many awards and honors for his art works. We are proud of him. We firmly believe that, his art works will inspire the new generations.
Kalidas presented Bangladesh with 70 solo exhibitions of his art works at home and abroad, she said.
The VC prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of Kalidas Karmakar and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
Ekushey Padak winning artist Kalidas Karmakar passed away on Friday afternoon at the age of 73.
