youngest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was
observed through various programmes here on Friday.

The city unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) placed wreath at the
portrait of Sheikh Russel followed by cutting a cake and holding a
discussion, milad and doa mahfil at its office on the occasion.

The leaders and workers of the district and city units of Awami League (AL)
and its associate bodies attended the programmes presided over by President
of city unit of BCL Shafiur Rahman Swadhin.

Kanti Mandal, Publicity Secretary Rezaul Islam Milon, Office Secretary of
district AL Tauhidur Rahman Tutul and General Secretary of city unit BCL
Sheikh Asif addressed the discussion.

Besides, the District Shishu Academy organised competitions on recitation
of poems and self-composed poems on Sheikh Russel and drawing for children
followed by discussion and prize distribution function at its auditorium in
the afternoon.

Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan attended the function held at Shishu
Academy auditorium and distributed prizes among winners of different
competitions as the chief guest.

With District Children Affairs Officer Mostaq Ahmed in the chair, former
General Secretary of District Shishu Academy Tauhidur Rahman Tutul addressed
the occasion as special guest.

The speakers said the conspirators assassinated Sheikh Russel mercilessly
and brutally aiming at reversing independence through eliminating
Bangabandhu’s blood from this soil.

Strongly condemning the assassination of Bangabandhu and most of his family
members, including Russel on August 15, 1975, they said Bangladesh and
Bangabandhu are inseparable and no conspiracy would be succeeded to destroy
independence and sovereignty of the country.

Shafiur Rahman Shafi urged leaders of AL and its associate bodies to let
the young generations know the true national history to inspire them in
taking the nation ahead and realise Bangabandhu’s dream of building a
developed Sonar Bangla.
