‘Kathin Chibar Dan’ to be celebrated tomorrow

DHAKA, Oct 18, 2019 (BSS) – The ‘Kathin Chibar Dan, a religious festival of the Bhuddist community, will be observed tomorrow across the country.

‘Kathin Chibar Dan’ is an annual religious festival during which Buddhists donate to monks different items required for living the life of a monk, including a cloth robe woven in their own looms.

The ritual plays an important role in the Bhuddist community to be a real follower of the religion through teaching them unity, solidarity and harmony.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued messages separately conveying greetings to the members of Buddhist community.

Describing Bangladesh as a country of communal harmony, the President urged people from all communities to play their respective roles to expedite the pace of national development and progress.

In her message, the Prime Minister hoped that the nation will be imbued with the ideology of Gautam Buddha to establish a ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
