Sadhan visits sites for Naogaon university

NAOGAON, Oct 18 , 2019 (BSS) – Work is going on to select a suitable site for setting up a full-fledged public university in Naogaon, aiming to escalate the initiative of opening the doors for higher education in the country.

To this end, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today visited Taltali area of Dighali Bill in Naogaon Sadar upazila and Chhatra Bill area of Niamatpur and Mahadebpur upazilas to choose a place for establishing the proposed university.

These two places are a bit away from the Naogaon town as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave a directive to establish the university in rural areas.

As higher education promotes social and economic landscapes of a nation, the present government has opened the doors of higher education for all to advance the country in all directions, Sadhan said.

He went on saying there is no alternative to education to make the nation dignified and prosperous.

Therefore, the minister said, the government is implementing a wide range of programs to improve the quality of education in the country.

Salim Uddin Tarafder MP, Deputy Commission Harun-Or-Rashid, Additional Police Super Md Rashidul Haque and Sadar Upazila Chairman Alhaj Md. Rafikul Islam Rafik were, among others, present.

Later, the minister cut a cake on the 55th birthday of Sheikh Russel, the youngest son Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujubur Rahman.
