1,790 yaba tablets seized, one held at Dhaka airport
DHAKA, Oct 18, 2019 (BSS) – Police arrested one person and recovered 1,790
pieces of yaba tablets from his possession at Hazrat Shahjalal International
Airport here.
The arrestee was identified as Sujan Mia, 28.
The Armed Police Battalion (APBN) arrested Sujan while he was suspiciously
walking at the car parking zone adjacent to domestic terminal at the airport
around 10 am yesterday, said Alamgir Hossain, additional police super of the
APBN.
During primary interrogation, Sujan admitted that he had arrived here from
Cox’s Bazar on a flight of US-Bangla Airlines carrying a huge amount of yaba
tablets inside his abdomen. Later, the police brought out these banned
tablets from his belly after trying for several hours.
A case was filed with Airport Police station in this connection last night.
Besides, a team of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-1 also arrested another
person with 30 kg of ganjas from Tongi under Gazipur district last night.
The person was identified as Abdus Salam, 30.
The RAB also recovered a microbus, two mobile phones and Taka 11,300 in
cash from his possession.
