Two ships return after 3-day naval drill with India

DHAKA, Oct 18, 2019 (BSS) – Two Naval warships ‘Swadhinota’ and ‘Ali
Haider’ returned home today from the Indian port Visakhapatnam after
concluding joint military drill with India in the Bay of Bengal, according to
a ISPR release here today.

The drill was held from October 10-12 in the designated maritime areas of
both countries, the release said.

On arrival of the two ships at Mongla Naval base, Navy officials, including
Commander of Flotilla West SM Maniruzzaman welcomed the two ships.

Besides, two Indian war ships – Ranvijay and Kuthar – and Indian Maritime
Patrol Aircraft were participated in the joint drill.

The joint military drill was held aimed at resisting different criminal
activities, including illegal fishing, smuggling, illegal migration, piracy,
terrorism and drug trafficking in the sea areas.

This was the second edition of Indian Navy-Bangladesh patrol in Bay of
Bengal, added the release. The ships left Mongla naval base on October 9 for
participating in the drill.
