Abdul Malek Ukil’s 32nd death anniversary observed
NOAKHALI, Oct 17, 2019 (BSS) – The 32nd death anniversary of Abdul Malek
Ukil, an organiser of the Liberation War and former president of Awami League
(AL), was observed through various programmes in a befitting manner today.
To mark the day, Noakhali District Awami League took different programmes
including hoisting of party flag at half-mast at the party office in the
morning.
On the occasion, floral wreaths were placed on the premises of Noakhali
Court Mosque and the Holy Quran was recited.
As part of marking the day, discussion meetings and milad mahfils were
also held by many political parties and different organisations to recall the
memories of Ukil.
Abdul Malek Ukil High School in Badherhat area and Noakhali Mohammadan
Sporting Club organised separate discussions and milad mahfil in observance
of the day.
A close aide to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Ukil was also a speaker
of the Jatiya Sangsad and home minster of Bangladesh.
