Tipu urges Nordic countries, China to invest in Bangladesh

DHAKA, Oct 17, 2019 (BSS) – Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi today urged the
Nordic Countries and China to invest more in Bangladesh taking the privileges
of investment friendly atmosphere for foreigners.

The minister made the call while Ambassadors of Nordic Countries and
Ambassador of China met him separately at his secretariat office, said a
press release.

The Nordic Countries envoys to Bangladesh include Sweden Ambassador
Charlotta Schlyter, Norway Ambassador Sidsel Bleken and Denmark Ambassador
Winnie Estrup Petersen.

Referring to the world’s largest compliance factory situated in
Bangladesh, Tipu Munshi said the country has been setting up more green
factories one after another, and workers are working in safety and work
friendly environment.

He also informed the Nordic envoys that the labourers are enjoying all
types of rights and benefits.

The envoys assured the minister of continuing their trade facilities and
other cooperation to Bangladesh.

Later, the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador in Dhaka Li Jiming made a
courtesy call on commerce minister.

Tipu Munshi told him that Bangladesh expects more Chinese investment and
export facilities. He also said if China eases visa for Bangladeshi
businessmen, the bilateral trade would boost further.

Reciprocating to the minister, the envoy said the Chinese government has
taken initiatives to ease visa for Bangladeshi businessmen.

He also said the Chinese investment in Bangladesh would increase further in
future.

Additional Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghose was present at both the meetings.
