Trouble-mongers will be uprooted from CHT: Asaduzzaman

RANGAMATI, Oct 17, 2019 (BSS) – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan today said those creating troubles in the hill areas will be uprooted at any cost to establish lasting peace there.

“The government will do whatever needed to keep the overall situation of the Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) region stable,” he said while addressing a special discussion on law and order with high-level administrative and security officials of three CHT districts at the Khudra Nri-Goshthi Auditorium here.

CHT Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing presided over the meeting which was attended by, among others, Dipankar Talukder, MP, Basanti Chakma, MP, Inspector General of Police Dr Javed Patwari, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General Benazir Ahmed, Boarder Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General Major General Md Shafeenul Islam, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Director General Major General Kazi Sharif Kaikobad and circle chiefs, district council chairmen, Headman-Karbaries and local dignitaries of the three hill tracts districts.

Noting that the discussion was held to determine the ways and means to establish permanent peace in the hilly areas, Asaduzzaman said the terrorists will never be allowed to hinder the process of establishing peace in the hilly areas initiated following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Peace Accord-1997.

Earlier, the minister joined another meeting on law and order with law enforcement agencies, representatives of intelligence agencies and high level administrative officials at the deputy commissioner’s (DCs) conference room last night here.
