CHATTOGRAM, Oct 15, 2019 (BSS)- A total of 15 slum houses were gutted in a
fire that broke out in a slum at Mohammadpur under Panchliash thana in the
city this morning.
Jashim Uddin, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defense
in Chattogram, said the fire originated from an electric short-circuit at a
slum house in the area around 5.15 am and quickly engulfed the adjoining
houses.
Six firefighting units from Chandanpura, Bayazid and Kalurghat areas
rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control around 7 am.
Victims and fire service officials claimed that the fire damaged
properties worth about Taka 10 lakh, Jashim Uddin added.
