Another accused in Abrar murder case arrested in Dinajpur

DHAKA, Oct 15, 2019 (BSS) – Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested another accused in BUET student Abrar Fahad murder case from Katla Bazar area under Birampur thana in Dinajpur district in the early hours of today.

The arrestee, ASM Najmus Sadat, is a 17th batch student of the Mechanical Engineering Department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), DB sources said.

Sadat’s name was mentioned in the murder case. The number of arrestees stood at 20 in the Abrar Fahad murder case with the arrest of Sadat.

Sadat, who remained fugitive after the killing incident, wanted to flee to India through Hili border of Dinajpur, according to DB.

Investigation officer of the case, Inspector of DB police Wahiduzzaman told BSS that another accused Md Akash Hossain has been sent to the court after a five-day remand.

Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of Electric and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Department of BUET was beaten to death at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of the university on October 7.

Abrar’s father Barkat Ullah filed a case against 19 people with Chawkbazar Police Station in connection with the murder.
