Standard video projection for digital Bangladesh stressed

RAJSHAHI, Oct 14, 2019 (BSS) – Experts at a discussion here today
unequivocally called for giving utmost emphasis on projecting standard video
to supplement the efforts of the government for building a digital
Bangladesh.

They viewed video is the modern medium of expression and its advances in
technology have changed the present world. So, showing standard video is very
crucial, they added.

Regional Office of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institutions (BSTI)
organized the discussion in Hotel Star International in the city to mark the
50th World Standard Day-2019.

This year’s theme of the day is “Video Standards create a global stage”.

Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi division Zakir Hossain and Divisional
Deputy Director of Department of National Consumers Rights Protection Syed
Mustaque Hassan addressed the meeting as chief and special guests
respectively with Khalilur Rahman, Regional Director of BSTI, in the chair.

Professor Abdur Razzaque of Department of Electrical and Electronics
Engineering in Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology and
President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md Muniruzzaman also
spoke on the occasion.

During his keynote presentation, Khairul Islam, Deputy Director
(Metrology) of BSTI, narrated the significance of the day alongside
highlighting aspects of international standardization of the consumer
products.

Disseminating his expertise on the theme Professor Abdur Razzaque
highlighted the aspects of ensuring quality and standard everywhere in the
civic life.

The Chief Guest Zakir Hossain suggested improving the efficiency and cost-
effectiveness of their operations, complying with legislative and regulatory
requirements, safeguarding health and protecting the environment.

He called upon BSTI to intensify its market inspection and monitoring
activities to tackle adulteration and stop the marketing of fake and
substandard products.
