District Registrar sent to jail in Ctg for embezzlement
CHATTOGRAM, Oct 14, 2019 BSS (BSS) – Chattogram Metropolitan Session Judge court today sent district Registrar Mohammad Lutfur Rahman to jail for alleged misappropriation of Wakf properties of Tk.130 crores through executing a fake deed in 2012 under Chattogram District Sub Registrar Office.
The properties belong to Haji Gani Sowdagar Wakf Estate measuring 1,184 Satak land in Khulsi area in port city, sources said.
The fake deed was executed in Chattogram District Sadar Sub Registrar office during his tenure in Chattogram (Deed No. 14516) on August 13, in 2012.
After long investigation by Anti corruption Commission officials in Chattogram, a case was filed against District Registrar Lutfur Rahman on August 19, this year on charge of misappropriation and corruption.
Metropolitan Session Judge Ashfaqur Rahman ordered him to sent jail after producing the accused before the court.
Before his arrest Lutfur Rahman was serving as district registrar of Nilphamari district.
Public Prosecutor of ACC Advocate Kazi Sanowar Ahmed Lovelu told BSS that Deputy Director of ACC Chattogram chapter Shahin Ara Momtaz filed the case before the court against Lutfur Rahman and 3 others for allegedly involved with the fraud case.
