Mozahid confesses involvement in Abrar killing
DHAKA, Oct 13, 2019 (BSS) – Another accused in the case lodged over
beating (BUET) student Abrar Fahad to death at the wee hours of October 7,
today confessed his involvement in the gruesome murder.
Investigation officer and detective branch inspector Md Wahiduzzaman
produced Mozahidur Rahaman before court and pleaded to record his statement
under section 164.
Allowing the plea, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nivana Khayer Jessy
recorded Mozahidur Rahaman’s confessional statement and sent him to jail
afterwards.
Meanwhile, another court today sent five accused in the case to jail. The
accused are- Mehedi Hasan Rasel, Muhtasim Fuad, Muntamir Al Jemmy, Khandaker
Tabakkharul Islam Tanvir and Ishtiaq Munna.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid passed the order as the IO
produced the accused before court and pleaded to send them jail.
The court on October 8 placed Mehedi Hasan Rasel, Muhtasim Fuad, Anik
Sarker, Ifti Mosharraf Sokal, Sefayetul Islam Jiyon, Ishtiaq Munna, Khandaker
Tabakkharul Islam Tanvir, Mozahidur Rahman, Muntamir Al Jemmy and Mehedi
Hasan Robin, on five-day remand.
Of those ten accused, Anik Sarkar Apu, Ifti Mosharraf Sokal and Meftahul
Islam Jiyon already gave confessional statement before court.
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) students and
the varsity authorities found Abrar, 22, on first-floor stairs of Sher-e-
Bangla Hall and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where
doctors declared him dead at around 6.30 am.
Abrar’s father filed the case with Chawkbazar Police Station against 19
people.
