Eight ABT militants indicted in Dipon murder trial

DHAKA, Oct 13, 2019 (BSS) – An anti-terror tribunal today framed charges
against eight members of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT)
in a case lodged over the murder of publisher Faisal Arefin Dipon in 2016.

Judge Mujibur Rahman of Anti-Terror Tribunal passed the order and set
November 18 to start recording depositions of the witnesses, court official
Ruhul Amin told BSS.

The tribunal on March 19 accepted the charge sheet filed in the case and
issued arrest warrants for fugitive accused ABT leader and also sacked army
Major Syed Ziaul Haque and Akram Hossain.

Investigation officer and detective branch assistant police commissioner
Fazlur Rahman on November 15 submitted the charge sheet against eight
accused.

The accused are sacked Army Major Ziaul Haque, Moinul Hasan Shamim, Md
Abdus Sabur, Khairul Islam, Md Abu Siddique Sohel, Md Mozammel Hossain
Saimon, Md Sheikh Abdullah and Akram Hossain alias Hasib.

Of the eight, six already have given confessional statements.

Jagriti Prokashoni publisher Dipon was hacked to death at his Aziz Super
Market office on November 31, 2016.

His wife Rajia Rahman filed the case on that day with Shahbagh police
station.
