Law not to spare Abrar’s killers: Anisul

DHAKA, Oct 13, 2019 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister
Anisul Huq today said the legal system would not spare the people involved in
the murder of Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of Electric and Electronics
Engineering (EEE) Department of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and
Technology (BUET).

“The culprits would be given maximum punishment under the existing law,” he
said.

The minister said these while addressing children dialogue marking Children
Rights Week and 30th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child
at National Shishu Academy here.

Anisul Huq at the function answered questions of child representatives who
came from across the country.

“Sheikh Hasina’s government has set an example by finishing Razan murder
trial of Sylhet and Rakib murder trial of Khulna in quickest possible time.
The trial over murder of Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan is also being
completed swiftly as the judgement is waiting to be pronounced,” Anisul Huq
said.

Director of Save the Children Abdullah Al Mamun gave welcome speech at the
function while Additional Secretary of Women and Children Affairs Ministry
Qamrun Nahar was present as special guest.

While talking about ragging culture in the educational institutions, the
law minister said it is definitely a crime and the victim should instantly
let concerned authorities and the guardians know about this.

“If the authorities of the concerned institutes do not take proper action,
they too shall be brought to justice,” he added.
