Shakib granted NOC for two more days for CPL final

DHAKA, Oct 12, 2019 (BSS)- Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was granted
leave for more two days to take part in the final of the Caribbean Premier
League (CPL).

Shakib failed to shine with bat and ball but his team Barbados Tridents
qualified for the final of the seventh edition CPL after beating Trinbago
Knight Riders by 12 runs in the second qualifier match in Trinidad on Friday.

Shakib scored 18 off 12 balls before conceding 0-27 in two overs but
despite his poor performance, Barbados went on to clinch a victory over
Trinbago to set a final against Guyana Amazon Warriors on Sunday at the same
venue.

”Shakib’s NOC expired yesterday (Friday). As his team went into final he
called me yesterday and we have extended his NOC for two more days. He will
come in 13 or 14 of this month,” BCB Cricket Operations chairman Akram Khan
said here on Saturday.

He also added that Shakib is unlikely to take part in the ongoing National
Cricket League (NCL) as he needs rest.

”He needs rest because he went directly to West Indies after playing the
series against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan,” he said.

“It [Shakib’s NCL participation] depends on the coach and we are following
the coach’s instruction,” he said.

”Those who will play in two formats of cricket– Test and Twenty20-in
India, they have been allowed to play two matches of the NCL,” Akram, also
the former skipper of the country informed.

”We will decide[about Shakib’s participation in NCL] after talking with
the coach,” he said.

The tigers started their preparation for the upcoming India tour by taking
part in the National Cricket League, country’s traditional first-class
tournament that began across the country from October 10.

Bangladesh, who was recently humbled by Afghanistan at home in a one-off
Test, will open their Test championship campaign with the two-match Test
series against India.

Senior players Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah appeared in
the NCL after a long gap. Tamim and Mahmudullah played in NCL last time in
2015 when they represented Chattogram and Dhaka divisions respectively while
Mushfiqur turned up for Rajshahi Division for a lone game in 2017.
