Dhaka to host C’wealth B2B Conference in Mujib Barsho 2020

DHAKA, Oct 12, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh, under the visionary leadership of
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, would be hosting Commonwealth B2B connectivity
conference during the Mujib Barsho in November 2020.

The date coincides with the Father of the Nation’s attendance of the first
Commonwealth Summit on August 2-10 in 1973 and would be a symbol of
“Bangabandhur Sonar Bangla prosperity aspirations,” said Commerce Minister
Tipu Munshi, according to a media release received here today.

The commerce minister attended the Commonwealth Trade Ministers’ Meeting
held in London from October 7-10. The meeting was chaired by the UK Secretary
of State for International Trade Rt. Elizabeth Truss, MP, and attended by 53
commonwealth countries and more than 30 commerce ministers.

Bangladesh has been nominated as the lead country for commonwealth Business
to Business connectivity cluster by consensus.

In his statement, the commerce minister proposed Bangladesh’s leadership
role in creating a Commonwealth Digital Business to Business connectivity hub
and digital trade platform with the participation of apex chambers and
business associations of 53 commonwealth countries which would also include
women entrepreneurs’ network and youth innovation hubs and market place to
promote intra-commonwealth trade.

The commerce minister led a four-member delegation along with senior
officials from the Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Saida Muna Tasneem was also present
in the meeting.
