Call to resist move to disrupt PM’s anti-crime drive

DHAKA, Oct 12, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Abdur Rahman today urged the Jatiya Sramik League leaders and activists to resist those who want to disrupt Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s ongoing drive against terrorism, corruption and drug abuse.

He made the call while addressing a rally marking the 50th founding anniversary of the Jatiya Sramik League in front of the AL central office in the city’s Bangabandhu Avenue this morning.

Chaired by Jatiya Sramik League President Sukkur Mahmud, the rally was addressed by, among others, Labour Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj and Jatiya Sramik League General Secretary Sirajul Islam.

The country is marching forward due to the Prime Minister’s efficient leadership, Abdur Rahman said, adding, “We should remain united to keep on this development pace”.

Noting that the Jatiya Sramik League played a vital role in different movements to establish democracy in the country, the AL leader urged the party leaders and activists to continue their efforts to make the country a developed one.

Later, a procession was brought out from the venue. After parading different city streets, it ended coming at the same place.

Earlier, the Jatiya Sramik League leaders and activists paid glowing tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing floral wreaths at his portrait in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32 in the city.
