Bowlers continue dominate on day-2 in NCL

DHAKA, Oct 11, 2019 (BSS)- Blowers continued to dominate the day-2 in the
four-dayer of the 21st National Cricket League when Dhaka and Chittagong
divisions were bundled out for around or over 250 at different venues across
the country on Friday.

At Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Dhaka Division resumed their
innings on the second day and added 97 more runs with their overnight score
of 143 for 3 to dismiss their first innings at 240 losing the remaining seven
wickets against Rajshahi Division, after rain hampered the first day’s play.

Thanks to overnight batsman Taibur Rahman for his polish unbeaten knock of
88 that helped Dhaka to take their total to over 200 runs. His responsible
innings furnished with nine boundaries and one over boundary during his 123
balls stay on the crease.

Left arm spinner Taijul Islam finished with an impressive spells of 4 for
92 runs while pacer Shafiul Islam bagged 3 for 43.

Besides, Farhad Reza captured 2 for 35 runs.

In reply, Rajshahi Division also suffered batting jolt in their first
innings as they finished the second day with 173 for 6.

Mushfiqur Rahim top scored composing 75 runs off 116 balls with seven
boundaries and three over boundaries before he was the victim of Rakibul
Hasan.

Jahurul Islam and Farhad Reza were on the crease with 57 and 14
respectively.

Sumon Sarkar claimed three Rajshahi’s wickets conceding 40 runs.

At Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Arafat Sunny claimed a six-
wicket haul as Chittagong Division dismissed their first innings at 290 after
they resumed their the second day with overnight score at 147 for 3.
Overnight batsman Pinak Ghosh top played a patient knock of 90 runs off
249 balls with the help of seven boundaries before he was clean bowled by
Arafat Sunny.

Arafat Sunny was the pick of Dhaka’s bowlers as he grabbed 6 Chittagong’s
wickets for 87 runs. He was well supported by Mahmudullah who hauled 3 for 55
runs.

In reply, Dhaka Metropolis started their first innings on the second day
afternoon and scored 66 for 2 at stumps.

Shamsur Rahman and skipper Marshall Ayub were remained unbeaten on 26 and
21 runs respectively.

Noman Chowdhury took the lone Dhaka’s wickets giving away 23 runs.

At Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna, Rangpur Division, put to bat first
by Khulna Division, suffered early batting jolt in their first innings as
they scored 169 for 5 on at stumps the second day, after the entire first day
was washed out due to rain.

Nayeem Islam was the top scorer of Rangpur innings with 48 runs after
Rangpur lost both their openers early.

Tanbir Haider with 40 and Sohrawardi Shuvo with 31 on the crease as the
stumps were drawn for the day.

Al-Amin Hossain and spinner Abdur Razzak took two Rangpur’s wickets each
conceding 44 and 51 runs respectively.

At Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi, Sylhet Division scored 68 for
3 after wet outfield almost consumed the second day’s play.

Sylhet Division plunged into a deep trouble as they lost their first three
wickets at 36 runs I the scoreboard after they were forced to bat first by
Barisal Division.

Zakir Hossain and Alok Kapali were on the crease with 32 and 8 runs as the
stumps were drawn for the day.

Kamrul Islam Rabbi claimed two Sylhet’s wickets for 13 runs while Tawhidul
Islam took one for 26 runs.
