Two more remanded in Abrar killing case

DHAKA, Oct 11, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today placed two more accused on
five-day remand in a case lodged over beating Bangladesh University of
Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Abrar Fahad to death at the wee
hours of October 7.

The two accused are – Amit Saha and Hossain Mohammad Toha.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sorafuzzaman Ansari passed the order as
investigation officer and detective branch inspector Md Wahiduzzaman produced
the duo before the court and pleaded to put them on 10-day remand.

On October 8, another court placed Mehedi Hasan Rasel, Muhtasim Fuad, Anik
Sarker, Ifti Mosharraf Sokal, Sefayetul Islam Jiyon, Ishtiaq Munna, Khandaker
Tabakkharul Islam Tanvir, Mozahidur Rahman, Muntamir Al Jemmy and Mehedi
Hasan Robin, on five-day remand.

Of the 10, Ifti Mosharraf Sokal on October 10 gave statement under section
164, confessing his role in the gruesome murder.

Earlier on October 9, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain placed
Shamsul Arefin Rafat, Md Moniruzzaman Monir and Md Akash on five-day remand
in the same case.

BUET students and authorities found Abrar, 22, in critical condition from
the first-floor stairs of Sher-e-Bangla Hall and rushed him to Dhaka Medical
College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead around 6:30am on
October 7.

Abrar’s father filed the case with Chawkbazar Police Station against 19
people.
