Another accused in Abrar murder case arrested in Sylhet

DHAKA, Oct 11, 2019 (BSS) – Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested another accused in BUET student Abrar Fahad murder case from Shah Kiron area in Sylhet in the early hours of today.

The arrestee Md Majedul Islam is a 17th batch student of the Materials and Metallurgical Engineering (MME) Department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

Deputy Commissioner of DMP Masudur Rahman told BSS that a Dhanmondi zonal team of DB (South) of DMP conducted a drive in Shah Kiron area in Sylhet and arrested Majedul at around 4am.

He said Majedul’s name was mentioned in the murder case. The number of arrestees stood at 17 in the Abrar Fahad murder case with the arrest of Majedul.

Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of Electric and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Department of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), was beaten to death in a dormitory on Sunday.

Police recovered his body from between the ground floor and the second floor of the Sher-e-Bangla Hall of BUET at 3am on Monday.

Abrar’s father Barkat Ullah filed a case against 19 people with Chawkbazar Police Station in connection with the Abrar murder on Monday last.
