‘Bangladesh achieves impressive success in ensuring child rights’

RANGPUR, Oct 07, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh has achieved impressive success
in ensuring equal rights of all children and creating child-friendly academic
atmosphere in educational institutions to properly flourish their latent
talents in last ten years.

The views were expressed today at inaugural function of different
competitions arranged for children in observance of the World Children’s Day-
2019 and World Children’s Rights Week-2019 at Shishu Academy auditorium in
the city.

The district administration with district unit of Bangladesh Shishu
Academy (BSA) organised the function before bringing out of a colourful rally
on the city streets.

The district level government officials, children of different child
organisations, students and teachers of educational institutions, guardians,
civil society members, professionals, politicians and local elite
participated in the programmes.

Deputy Commissioner Md Asib Ahsan inaugurated observance of the World
Children’s Day-2019 and World Children’s Rights Week-2019 by releasing
balloon as the chief guest.

Acting President of district Awami League (AL) Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed,
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Syed Enamul Kabir, District Children
Affairs Officer Mostaq Ahmed, Office Secretary of district AL Tauhidur Rahman
Tutul and President of Rangpur unit of Nari-Shishu Advocacy Forum Principal
Fakhrul Anam Benzu addressed the occasion.

The speakers stressed on ensuring enjoyable environment in classrooms,
interactive teaching and learning and community engagement for making child-
friendly educational institutions to properly educate children and establish
their equal rights.

Principal Benzu laid emphasis on ensuring universal rights to education,
health care, nutrition and child-friendly environment in all educational
institutions of all children, including those belonging to backward social
sections.

Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed discussed various epoch-making initiatives taken by the
present government to ensure universal rights of all children for their
normal growth, education, health care and entertainment.

The chief guest said the government is implementing diversified programmes
to bring up children through providing education, health care, food,
nutrition and shelter to attain the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
