World Habitat Day observed in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI, Oct 7, 2019 (BSS) – The World Habitat Day- 2019 was observed
today here like other parts of the country in a befitting manner aiming to
make the planet livable through ensuring pollution-free environment.
To mark the day, Divisional administration in association with Rajshahi
Development Authority (RDA) and the Department of Housing and Public Works
brought out a colourful rally in the city.
This year’s theme of the day was “Frontier Technologies as an innovative
tool to transform waste into wealth.”
The rally started from the premises of Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Central Zoo
and Park and ended at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner after
parading some city streets.
Following the rally, a discussion meeting was held there. Commissioner-in-
Charge of Rajshahi Division Dr Abdul Mannan, Commissioner of Rajshahi
Metropolitan Police Humayun Kabir, RDA Chief Executive Officer Rabiul Islam,
Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque and Superintendent of Police Md Shahidullah
addressed the meeting.
The speakers viewed that the authorities concerned including the local
government bodies should be committed to ensure quality solid waste
management.
