BRDB DG for eradicating poverty to build happy, prosperous nation

GAIBANDHA, OCT 07, 2019 (BSS) – Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) M. Gias Uddin Ahmed in a function here yesterday underscored the need for eradicating poverty to build a happy, prosperous and enriched nation.

“In this context, the need base training on income generating activities (IGAs) and loan with nominal interest from the board can help change their socio-economic condition of the beneficiaries and be self-reliant as well”, he said.

DG of BRDB and also secretary of the government M. Gias Uddin Ahmed made the comments while addressing a concluding ceremony of 15-day training on embroidery, rural electrician and jute and jute products making at the SKS Inn, at Radhakrishnapur, an outskirt of the district town, on Sunday as the chief guest.

Ataur Rahman Sarker, chairman of Gaibandha Zila Parishad, was present at the event as the special guest while Gobindaganj Upazila Rural Development Officer (RDO) Enamul Haque was the moderator.

Gaibandha Integrated Rural Poverty Eradication project of Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives which is being implemented in the district organized the function.

Project director and also deputy director of BRDB here Abdus Sabur presided over the ceremony.

DG of BRDB M. Gias Uddin urged the beneficiaries to use the loan money properly in respective IGAs aimed at earning economic benefit against the activities to attain the cherished goals of the project.

The DG also advised the project beneficiaries to send their children to academic institutions to be worthy citizens of the country so that they could lead the nation towards desired development in future.

Zila parishad chairman Ataur Rahman Sarker urged the beneficiaries to work sincerely to make the project a grand success in the district so that it could be a role model in the country.

Later, the DG formally distributed certificates and cheques of loan to 130 project beneficiaries of the district as the chief guest.

All the upazila upazila rural development officers, assistant upazila rural development officers, junior officers, field inspectors and other staff as well as the journalists of the BSS and the BTV attended the function spontaneously.
