Gazipur Unnayan Kartripakkha Law awaits cabinet approval
DHAKA, Oct 5, 2019 (BSS) – Conceiving the idea of planned urbanization and cozy habitation in the metropolis, the “Gazipur Unnayan Kartripakkha Law 2019” is likely to be placed before the next cabinet for the final approval.
“The draft of the Gazipur Unnayan Kartripakkha Law will be placed before the next cabinet for its final approval aiming to pass the law soon,” Additional Secretary of the Housing and Public Works Ministry Md Yeakub Ali Patwary told BSS today.
The draft law will be published in the ministry’s website soon as it has returned to the ministry from the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry after necessary vetting, he said.
The Gazipur Unnayan Kartripakkha will be established with an area of 329 square kilometers, including the Gazipur City Corporation and three more municipalities of the district.
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque said that the Gazipur Unnayan Kartripakkha Law will be passed in the parliament soon for the development of the city in a planned way.
The government took an initiative in 2015 to establish the ‘Gazipur Unnayan Kartripakkha’ for planned urbanisation and development in Gazipur City Corporation and in the vicinity of the city. The law was drafted in 2016.
The law was placed before the cabinet for primary approval on April 1 last while it was sent to the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry for legal amendment.
