DHAKA, Oct 5, 2019 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) added five players in the Bangladesh A team’s squad for the three-match one-day series against Sri Lanka A.

Bangladesh A is currently playing the second four-day match against Sri Lanka after which the one-day series starts on October 8. The second and third one-day is on October 10 and 12.

Ariful Haque, Afif Hossain, Saif Hasan, Naim Sheikh and Abu Haider Rony were added to the squad for the one-day series and they would leave the country on October 6.

The players who will be the part of one-day squad will miss the first round of the National Cricket League (NCL) but will be available from the second round.

Those five players however were the part of Bangladesh A team’s one-day series against India A. They got just two days to practice immediate after return to the country from India.

“There were two days for training. Everyone did their training on individual level. The five players including me, who are going to Sri Lanka, they used those two days. We will try to play well,” Afif said here on Saturday.

“The opponents are strong. So if we can perform against those teams, it would boost our confidence. I got the confidence there that helped me here.”

Afif said that they aim to win all one-day matches in Sri Lanka and he is confident that he would be able to make some runs to boost his confidence as well.

“Our target is to win all three matches there. I will try to play good cricket for the team. There’s nothing to prove. When I played NCL and BCL, I scored run runs there- almost in every season. So I expect the same in this season.”

Due to play more limited over cricket than the longer version format, Afif is being touted as shorter version material but he said he is able switch gear for every format.

“I don’t know which format will suit me more but wherever I will play, l will try to give my best,” he said.
