DHAKA, October 5, 2019 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has emphasized on the upcoming National Cricket League (NCL) for the perfect preparation of the national team’s tour in India in which they would play three-match T20 Internationals and two-match Test series.

The NCL is set to begin on October 10 and the BCB made it mandatory for all available national players. To be more preciously, the BCB wants players to play at least first two rounds of the league before the practice camp for the India series starts on October 25.

BCB Cricket Operations Committee chairman Akram Khan said that they have taken the India series seriously despite knowing that it would be very tough, especially when the next door neighbor country is always invincible at their home track.

”India tour is going to be tough as they are one of the best teams and especially very good at home,” Akram Khan said here on Saturday.

”This is going to be tough and also Test Championship is starting with this two-match Test series. We have already sent team in India twice keeping that in mind so that we had good preparation [for the tour of India],” he said adding that the players will start their preparation for the India tour with the upcoming National Cricket League, scheduled from September 10.

”And National league also is starting from October 10. So we have made plan that- who will play two formats (T20 and Test), they will play two matches [in NCL],” he said.

The BCB at the same time is strict on their development also, especially in longer format cricket and so the India series is important for them to know where they are standing now at this moment.

Akram said that the BCB has decided in principle that the standard of NCL should be enhanced in a bid to make the players more perfect for longer version format. He also said that they will increase the match fee of the first class players step by step.

“The match fee of the national players was doubled and so the first class cricketers could demand to increase the match fee. It’s in our mind. But at the moment it is not possible. We’ll definitely increase the match fee but it will be done step by step,” he added.

Akram said that the cricket operations committee is working with High Performance (HP) unit and game development intensely to raise the bar of the country’s cricket.

“Me, Naimur Rahman Durjoy and Khaled Mahmud Sujon sat together to decide on how we can make more development of our cricket. We have also talked about the coaches in various department of our cricket. And we also discussed on how we can enhance the standard of our coaches,” he said.
