Mobile servicing training for ethnic begins in C’nawabganj

RAJSHAHI, Oct 2, 2019 (BSS)- Some twenty youths from the ethnic minority
families have got scopes of building their capacity and skill through
receiving training on mobile phone servicing and repairing in Chapainawabganj
district.

Agriculture Sustainable and Socio-economic Development Organization
(ASSEDO), a national level voluntary development organization, organized the
training under its “Fighting Forced Labour with Adivasi and Dalit Communities
in South Asia” project.

Department of Youth Development (DYD) is extending overall support to the
training programme.

This was revealed in opening session of a month-long residential training
on the promising trade and business sector at DYD Building Auditorium in the
district today.

DYD Deputy Director Zabed Iqbal, ASSEDO Executive Director Rabiul Alam and
its Field Coordinators Mahbub Jaman, Musammat Daisy and Aminul Islam
addressed the inaugural ceremony.

The meeting was told that around 4,000 ethnic minority people including
2,000 women will be engaged in various income-generating activities in Barind
area in phases for lifting them out of poverty by December, 2021.

To this end, 1000 of the enlisted people from 2000 households will be
brought under need-based training on various trades and vocations like
electrics, mobile, mechanic, tailoring, computer operating, beautification,
driving, carpentry and building construction.

The skill and capacity building activities are being implemented under the
three-year project in 30 villages under Tanore Upazila in Rajshahi and
Nachole Upazila in Chapainawabganj districts.

Rabiul Islam said the project is intended to fight against the systemic
and structural vulnerabilities of marginalized agricultural communities for
eliminating the menace of child labour.
