Water levels in 74 rivers rise, 18 fall
DHAKA, Oct 01, 2019 (BSS) – Water levels at 74 river stations monitored by
Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise while 18
stations recorded fall.
Among the 93 monitored stations, water level at one river station has been
registered steady while water levels at 3 river stations–Padma at Goalundo,
Padma at Sureswar and Gorai at Kamarkhali– are flowing above danger level, a
bulletin issued by the FFWC said here today.
All the major rivers are in rising trend expect the Surma-Khushiyara, the
bulletin said, adding that the Ganges-Padma rivers are in rising trend which
may continue rising in the next 72 hours.
The Ganges River at Hardinge bridge point and the Padma River at Bhagyakul
point may cross danger level in the next 24 hours.
The Brahmputra River may fall in next 24 hours while the Jamuna River may
remain steady.
The Surman-Kushiyara Rivers may continue falling in the next 24 hours.
Significant rainfall was recorded at some stations in different districts
during the last 24 hours ending at 9 am today.
A total of 190 millimetres (mm) rainfall was recorded at Sunamganj, 120.4mm
at Moheshkhola, 117.5mm at Dinajpur, 100 mm at Dewanganj, 88 mm at Parshuram,
83mm at Gaibandha, 79mm at Jamalpur, 69.7mm at Noakhali ,57mm at
Kurigram,53mm at Ramgarh,54 mm at Rangpur and 52 mm Rohanpur.
