Equal rights for girl child stressed for attaining SDGs

RANGPUR, Sept 30, 2019 (BSS) – Speakers at a human chain today raised
their voices to ensure equal rights of girl children for their normal growth
for achieving the target of sustainable national development goals (SDGs).

Government officials and rights activists expressed the view at a human
chain programme arranged in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office at
Katchari Bazar zero point in the city to observe the National Girl Child Day-
2019.

The district administration and office of the Deputy Director of District
Department of Women Affairs in association with different women rights and
non-governmental organisations formed the human chain programme.

Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan addressed the programme as the chief
guest with Deputy Director of the District Department of Women Affairs Kawsar
Pervin in the chair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Syed Enamul Kabir, District
Children Affairs Officer Imran Mian, human and women rights activists Somse
Ara Bilkis, students Anjuman Ara, Sonali Roy, Julia Islam, Kamrunnahar Begum,
among others, addressed the programme.

The speakers said achievements of Bangladesh in different key sectors
including education, health care and stopping early marriages, were lauded
globally.

They laid importance on creating mass public awareness to ensure equal
rights of girl children for their normal growth by eliminating child marriage
through providing education, healthcare service and other basic needs.
