Complain boxes at DNCC to prevent oppression against women

DHAKA, Sept 29, 2019 (BSS) – Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) is going
to set up complain boxes at every ward, markets and public places in the city
aiming to prevent the oppression against women, children and people with
disabilities.

“Complain boxes will be set up at every ward of the DNCC, markets and
public places in the city to prevent the oppression against women, children
and people with disabilities. Effective measures will be taken on the basis
of those complains,” DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said.

The mayor was addressing a view exchange meeting with the senior citizens
on building a women, children and challenged people friendly Dhaka at the
Nagar Bhaban in the city, said a press release here.

Ramps should be constructed and toilet facilities should be available all
markets and public places for the differently abled people, Atiqul said,
adding holding tax of those buildings which will have no such facility will
be increased several times.

A nine-member committee was formed in the meeting to build women, children
and challenged people friendly city.

Members of parliament (MPs) Jinnatul Bakia, Shabnam Jahan, Aparajita Haque,
Naheed Ezaher Khan and Umme Fatema Nazma Begum, women entrepreneur Rokeya
Afzal, executive director of Gana Shakkharata Abhijan Rasheda K Cowdhury,
Executive Director of Nijera Kori Khushi Kabir, Executive Director of
ActionAid Farah Kabir, Singer Rezwana Choudhury Bannya and Executive Director
of Ain O Salish Kendra Sheepa Hafiza were present in the programme, among
others.
