Tigers’ tour to Pakistan hinges on security clearance

DHAKA, Sept 29, 2019 (BSS)- Bangladesh national cricket team’s upcoming
tour in Pakistan, which is the part of World Test Championship matches,
hinged on security clearance of the government, said Bangladesh Cricket Board
(BCB) CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury.

“Our teams have some rules and regulations to play in abroad and security
is one of the key points of that,” Chowdhury said here on Sunday.

“We have commitment with ICC and according to FTP schedule Pakistan host
Bangladesh for two Tests and three T20Is next year. And Pakistan has selected
Dubai and some other venues (as their home ground),” he said.

“We are working on it along with the ministry and with the high
commissions’ of the countries that are involved. The final decision will be
taken based on their report,” he added.

Chowdhury revealed that a security inspection team will be visiting
Pakistan soon as the procedure with the local high commission and government
is already on going.

He hoped that they will be able to send the inspection team before
Bangladesh Women’s team visit in Pakistan.

“The procedure has already started. We are in touch with Bangladesh High
Commission and they have given us a report. We have sent that to our
government and the concerned ministry,” he revealed.

“We are trying to send the inspection team before the visit of our Women’s
team in Pakistan. It will be helpful for us to understand better and hoping
for a proper inspection,” he added.

Bangladesh Women’s team will be touring Pakistan from October 26 to
November 5 for three T20Is and two ODIs.

The national women’s team will be departing for the series three days
before their first match and the team will be travelling with their interim
coach Dipu Roy Chowdhury who was also their former head coach as current head
coach Anju Jain along with two other Indian coaching staff are restricted to
visit Pakistan for some ‘diplomatic’ issues.

“Women will leave on October 23,” Chowdhury informed.

“As Sri Lankan national team is already in Pakistan,” the CEO said, adding
that they are trying to send the inspection team within a short time to have
a close check on Pakistan’s security arrangements in their ongoing series
with the Lankans.

“Now Sri Lanka team is in Pakistan so if our team can see the security
arrangements now, then they can inspect it more accurately,” he concluded.

Bangladesh national cricket team is expected to visit Pakistan in February
next year.
