Large-cap pushes bourses up

DHAKA, Sept 29, 2019 (BSS) – Buoyed by the large-cap shares, especially
bank sector, country’s capital bourse Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) today ended
session maintaining the upsurge of previous day.

Investors showed good appetite on the bank sector which pulled the core
index of DSE up and the broad index, DSEX closed in green at 4975.73 points
with a gain of 7.26 points or 0.14 percent from the previous day.

In addition, the two selective indices, DSE30 declined marginally by 0.96
points while DSES increased slightly by 1.01 points to stand at 1767.98
points and 1149.54 points respectively.

Meanwhile, market turnover decreased by seven percent from the last
session and stood at Taka 3.8 billion.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 120,300 trades were executed
in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 123.12 million
securities.

Losers took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 353 issues traded,
125 securities gained price while 192 declined and 36 remained unchanged.

Investors exerted buying pressure on bank, ceramic and mutual fund
sectors. Sector wise performance exposed that-ceramic(2.4pc), mutual fund
(2.0pc) and bank (1.1pc) experienced highest price appreciation while jute(-
3.0pc), general insurance (-1.9pc) and paper (-1.7pc) sector experienced
highest price correction.

Investors’ focus was mostly concentrated on general insurance (19.3pc),
engineering (15.9pc) and pharma (9.6pc) sectors, according to EBL Securities.

The top 10 gainers were Golden Harvest Agro, Phoenix Finance first Mutual
Fund, SEML FBLSL Growth Fund, SEML LEC Mutual Fund, SEML MIBBL Shariah Fund,
Vanguard AML Rupali Bank Balanced Fund, Monno Ceramic, Standard Ceramic
Industries, Monno Stafflers and VAML BD Mutual Fund 1.

BSCCL topped the turnover chart followed by Monno Stafflers, Monno
Ceramics, National Tubes, Sonarbangla Insurance, Premier Bank, Stylecraft,
Fortune Shoes, Legacy Footwear and National Polymer.

The top 10 losers were ICB AMCL Second Mutual Fund, Aramit Cement, Indo-
Bangla Pharmaceuticals, Silva Pharmaceuticals, Anlimayarn Dying, Tallu
Spinning, Bangladesh Building System, Fareast Islami Life Insurance, Northern
Jute Manufacturing and United Insurance.

Besides, the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also
registered upsurge maintaining the previous day’s trend. CSCX and CASPI
increased by 15.62 and 25.47 points to stand at 9177.46 points and 15109.34
points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 7,180,548 shares and mutual fund of 242 companies were
traded, of which 97 issues advanced while 119 declined and 26 issues remained
unchanged.
