JS body discuss on birth centenary of Bangabandhu

DHAKA, Sept 29, 2019 (BSS) – The parliamentary standing committee on civil aviation and tourism today had a discussion about the development of the plans regarding the celebration of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The discussion was held at the seventh meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here, said a release of the Parliament Secretariat today.

Chairman of the committee RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury presided over the meeting.

Members of the committee Civil Aviation and Tourism state minister Md Mahbub Ali, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Kazi Firoze Rashid, Tanvir Imam, Ashek Ullah Rafiq, Anwar Hossain Khan and Syeda Rubina Aktar were present at the meeting.

The meeting discussed the overall development of recommendations made and decisions taken in the previous meetings regarding the celebration of the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by the ministry, said the release.

The meeting highlighted various activities taken by Bangladesh Airlines and Bangladesh Tourism Corporation for the celebration of Mujib Centenary on 2020.

The committee recommended making the tourism more attractive and up to date by emphasizing the needs of domestic foreign tourists, added the release.

The committee also recommended visiting Sylhet Osmani International Airport and Cox’s Bazar Airport.

During the meeting, the committee recommended the ministry to present a list of the name of the officials and agencies involved with booking fake tickets.

The meeting placed a recommendation to taking legal actions against any official found to be guilty of corruption or irregularities.

Secretaries of the civil aviation and tourism ministry and other concerned officials of the parliament secretariat were present at the meeting.
