DHAKA, Sept 28, 2019 (BSS)-Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Martuza Ahmed today urged journalists of the print and electronic media to come forward to create public awareness in stepping up enforcement of Right to Information Act (RTI) in the country.

“Mass awareness will have to be created across the country in enforcing the Right to Information Act . . . all concerned quarters will have to be involved in this process as it is not possible for the Information Commission alone to enforce it,” said Martuza Ahmed while speaking at a programme at Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of the National Press Club here.

Principal Information Officer Surath Kumar Sarkar moderated the programme while information commissioner Surayya Begum and additional secretary (admin and film) of the information ministry Md Mizan Ul Alam and National Press Club President Saiful Alam took part in the discussion.

In observance of the ‘International Right to Information Day’, the CIC took up a two-day programme in association with the government and private organisations, civil society and mass media.
