AL congratulates Sheikh Hasina on receiving Unicef award

DHAKA, Sept 28, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Awami League (AL) today congratulated Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina for attaining the ‘Champion of Skill Development for Youth’ award by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The UNICEF has honoured Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with the award for her outstanding contributions to skill-based development of young people in Bangladesh. UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta H Fore handed over the award to the prime minister at a ceremony in New York on Thursday.

AL general secretary Obaidul Quader, in a statement, today said on the occasion of the 73rd birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the UNICEF award added a new feather of pride and dignity of the Bengali nation.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, dedicated the prize to the people of Bangladesh and especially to children all over the world. This has taken the dignity of Bengali nation to a new height globally,” he said.

Referring to skilled work plan and farsighted leadership of the premier, Quader said Bangladesh is now proceeding towards a development highway due to meritorious, honest and prudent work-strategy and farsighted leadership of Sheikh Hasina.

She, the AL general secretary said, involved the unity of young generation, the key tool of unprecedented advancement, in building a happy and prosperous country.

He said the proper use of the youth’s labour, merit and vigor, and creating scope to flourish their talents and potentials helped turned the youth into skilled manpower getting worldwide appreciation.

“All steps taken by Sheikh Hasina’s government to build efficient manpower is recognized as well as praised by world people,” he added.

Quader said AL believes that Bangladesh is a country of brave youths who contributed to all democratic movements and the Liberation War under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Prior to the national election of 2008, AL took a historic plan to build a “Digital Bangladesh” to meet hopes and aspirations of the young generation, he mentioned.

The AL leader said flourishing country’s youth potentials has been accelerated soon after the announcement of AL’s election manifesto before the national polls of 2018, where priority was given to the youth development.

Children of Bangladesh will now get plenty of opportunity to prepare themselves in line with the world standards due to the significant economic development of the country under Sheikh Hasina’s government,” he said.
