‘Epoch-making RTI Act helps building digital Bangladesh’

RANGPUR, Sept 28, 2019 (BSS) – The epoch-making Right to Information (RTI)
Act, 2009 has ensured free flow of information helping to build a corruption-
free developed Bangladesh.

The observation came today at a post-rally discussion arranged in
observance of the International Day for Universal Access to Information- 2019
at conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in the city.

Earlier, the district administration in cooperation with ‘Sochetan Nagorik
Committee (SNC)’ and RDRS Bangladesh brought out a colourful rally to mark
the day.

Deputy Commissioner Md Asib Ahsan attended the discussion as the chief
guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Syed Enamul Kabir in the
chair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) for Rangpur Sharif Md Foyezul Alam
and Vice-president of Rangpur SNC Professor Mohammad Shah Alam addressed,
among others.

The chief guest said enactment of the RTI Act-2009 is one of the biggest
successes of the present government as the law is ensuring the people’s right
to know in establishing transparency and accountability at all levels.

He asked all concerned in government and non-governmental departments and
organisations to disseminate information to common people as dictated by the
RTI Act, 2009 to establish good governance everywhere in the society.
