Prize distribution ceremony of women’s chess held
DHAKA, Sept 28, 2019 (BSS)- The prize distribution and closing ceremony of
the National Women’s Chess Championship was held today (Saturday) at
Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room.
FM Iqbal Bin Anwar (Dawn), executive director and head of sports and
welfare of WALTON Group, distributed prizes among the winners as the chief
guest.
International Organiser WCM Mahmuda Hoque Chowdhury Moly, managing
director of Elegant International Chess Academy, was present as special guest
on the occasion.
Unbeaten Champion WIM Rani Hamid of Bangladesh Ansar & VDP received Taka
25,000 along with trophy and gift while runner-up WIM Sharmin Sultana Shirin
of Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society got Taka 18,000 as prize money.
Third place finisher Ahmed Walijah of Elegant International Chess Academy
received Taka 13,000 while fourth place finisher WFM Nazrana Khan Eva of
Manikganj got Taka 8,000.
Fifth place winner WCM Noshin Anjum of Elegant International Chess Academy
got Taka 7,000 while sixth place finisher WCM Sharmin Samiha Shimmi received
Taka 5,000.
Besides, seventh to 14th place finishers Tasnia Tarannum Orpa of Elegant
International Chess Academy, Umme Taslima Protiva Talukder of Bogura, Wadifa
Ahmed of Elegant International Chess Academy, Israt Jahan Diba, Afrin Jahan
Munia of Barisal, WCM Jannatul Ferdous of Elegant International Chess
Academy, Nusrat Jahan Alo of Elegant International Chess Academy and Kazi
Zarin Tasnim of Dhaka Division received Taka 3,000 each.
The event was held in nine round Swiss-League system and a total of 58
players participated in the meet.
