DHAKA, Sept 28, 2019 (BSS)- IM Abu Sufian Shakil now sharing the third
position in the points table along nine players with six points after eighth
round games of second Gujarat International Open Grandmasters Chess
Tournament now being held in Ahmadabad, Gujarat in India.
GM Ziaur Rahman bagged 5.5 points while GM Niaz Murshed and FM Mehdi Hasan
Parag earned five points each, Tahsin Tajwar Zia and Nayem Haque bagged 4.5
points each, Abzid Rahman earned four points and Abdullah Al Raison earned
three points after the eighth round games.
In the eighth round games were held on Friday last evening, IM Shakil beat
IMS Nitin of India, GM Zia beat IM Sobh Amrou of Egypt, GM Niaz drew with
Thanki Hemal Karsanji of India, FM Parag beat Priyankara Chamil of Sri Lanka,
Abzid beat Jaiveer Mahendru of India, Raison split point with Jena Suhana of
India, Nayem lost to CM Nikhil Magizhnan of India and Tahsin lost to V Pranav
of India.
