80 Puja mandaps get KCC grant

KHULNA, Sept 28, 2019 (BSS) – Khulna City Corporation (KCC) distributed
Taka 6.93 lakh among 80 Puja Mandaps in the city aims at making the
forthcoming celebration of Durga Puja, largest religious festival of the
Hindu community, more festive and enthusiastic among the devotees.

KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque revealed this while distributing
cheques at Chhoto Boyra Kalibari Sarbojanin Kalimandir (temple) and
authorities concerned of different Puja Mandaps in Khalishpur, Daulatpur,
Sonadanga and Khanjahan Ali thana areas in the city on Thursday evening.

Mayor also stressed the need for keeping communal harmony to ensure
peaceful celebration of Durga Puja.

He also announced that the city Bhaban and the important crossings of
the city will be eliminated on the occasion.

Besides, CC camera will be set up at different strategic points to
monitor the security measures.

Durgautsab will be celebrated in 129 Puja Mandaps in the city this year
from October 5 to 8.

Meanwhile, preparation for celebrating the Durga Puja is going on
everywhere. People of the community are passing their busiest days with the
works of decorating and painting idol and Puja Mandaps ahead of the festival.

Police administration has chalked out elaborate security measures to
make the celebration a total success.

“We have adopted tight security measures to make the Khulna city’s Durga
Puja celebration festive and successful,” said additional deputy commissioner
of KMP Moniruzzamam Mithu.
