NEW YORK, Sept 27, 2019 (BSS) – Noting Bangladesh national cricket team is
going through a transition process, its captain Shakib Al Hasan has expressed
firm confidence that team’s bad time will be over soon and they will play
well again like the past.

“We believe that Bangladesh is a good team … such a team sometimes goes
through transition process and now we’re in that (transition) process,” he
said.

“However, so many days will not be required to overcome the bad time and
we’ll start performing well like in the past,” he said.

Shakib, also UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, made these remarks while
addressing a function organised by the UNICEF to confer Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina an award.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) conferred the award titled
‘Champion of Skill Development for Youth’ on the premier for Bangladesh’s
great success in youth skill development.

UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore handed over the award to the
prime minister at Labouisse Hall of UNICEF House in the UN Plaza here on
Thursday evening.

Shakib’s comments came after the prime minister requested him to say
something about Bangladesh’s cricket.

He said the final of the T20I tri-series was not held as it was washed out
due to rain. “If the final was held, then it could be understood that what
was the situation of our team,” he said.

The ace allrounder said: “There are two World Cups before Bangladesh
including T20 World Cup and everybody pray for us … I completely believe
that we could brighten the country’s image.”

About Bangladesh’s tremendous development over the last one decade under
the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Shakib said: “Let’s all
advance together in Bangladesh’s this progress.”
