RANGPUR, Sept 26, 2019 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) arrested six drug traders and dacoits with huge smuggled drugs, fake arms and sharp weapons from different places of Rangpur and Dinajpur districts in the early hours of today.
“The seized goods include 157 kg ganja, 245 bottles phensidyl, one fake revolver, one chapatti, one knife and three other sharp weapons,” said a press release issued by Media Officer (ASP) ANM Imran Kahn at Rangpur RAB-13 Battalion headquarters.
A special operational team of RAB-13 from Rangpur conducted a drive at Samerhat point on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur and arrested two drug traders from a covered van with 98 kg smuggled ganja.
The arrested persons are: Sujan Mian, 21, of village Shimulbari Fakirpara in Phulbari upazila of Kurigram and Arif Hossain, 26, of village Barua in Kawnia upazila of Rangpur districts.
As per confession of the arrested persons, the same operational team conducted another raid at village Chondipur in Kawnia upazila of Rangpur, seized 59 kg smuggled ganja and 245 bottles phensidyl and arrested a couple from a house there.
“The arrested persons are: housemaster Abul Hossain, 50, and his wife Aleya Begum, 43, of the village,” the release said.
During primary interrogation, the arrested four drug traders admitted their involvements with trading drugs and narcotics substances for a long time.
In another raid conducted by the Crime Prevention Special Company (CPSC) of RAB-13 from Rangpur, two dacoits were arrested with a fake revolver and huge sharp weapons from Bhaduria-Daudpur road in Nababganj upazila of Dinajpur early today.
“The arrested dacoits are: Shariful Islam, 44, and Iqbal Hossain, 35, of village Begun Bari in Ghoraghat upazila of Dinajpur district,” the release said.
The arrested dacoits admitted their involvements with committing robberies and abducting innocent people for ransom in association with their other cohorts at different areas of Dinajpur, Rangpur and Gaibandha districts for a long time.
After filing separate cases against the arrested persons, the elite force handed them over to the respective police stations this afternoon.
