RpMP takes steps for peaceful celebration of Durga Puja

RANGPUR, Sept 24, 2019 (BSS) – Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP)
Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud today said tight security measures would be
taken to ensure peaceful celebration of the ‘Sharodiyo’ Durga Puja, the
greatest religious festivity of the Sanaton community, in the metropolis.

He gave the assurance while presiding over a views-exchange meeting on ‘Law
and Order Situation during Durga Puja-2019’ held at his conference room with
leaders of Rangpur city unit of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parisahd (BPUP) in
the city.

He said special security measures including deployment of police forces
along with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Ansar- VDP and community
police would be ensured for peaceful celebrations of Durga Puja at all 164
puja mandaps erected in the metropolis.

The RpMP Commissioner called upon everyone to remain cautious about the
vested interests of those people who could create chaos and sabotage anywhere
during the festival.

Additional Commissioner Mohammad Abu Sufian of RpMP, its Deputy Police
Commissioner (Headquarters) Md Mahidul Islam, Deputy Police Commissioner
(Headquarters and Admin) Kazi Muttaki Ibnu Minan, other Deputy and Assistant
Police Commissioners and police officials were present.

President of city BPUP Subrata Sarker, its General Secretary Dhonjeet Ghosh
Taposh and other leaders of the Sanaton community attended the event.
