DHAKA, Sept 24 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today
reiterated that none would be spared if anyone is found involved in
wrongdoings or irregularity.

“We’ve started drives from our own houses. Many leaders are now under
surveillance. No wrongdoer will be spared,” he told a press conference at the
Secretariat here after joining a meeting with the representatives of the
World Bank and the United Nations.

“Now all are AL leaders…why did we take them in our party? Now they are
using the label of our party and that’s why we’ve started drives from our own
houses,” the AL general secretary said.

About the restriction on political leaders’ traveling abroad, he said: “I
do not know how many leaders have been brought under the restriction. But,
many leaders are now under surveillance.”

Replying to a question, Quader, also the road transport and bridges
minister, said now chaos continues over Casino issue.

Responding to another question about AL council, he said the
representatives of the World Bank and the United Nations, during the meeting,
wanted to know about AL council.

“They wanted to know whether we arrange any training for leaders in the
council and women will be empowered at central level,” he added.

Noting that the World Bank and the United Nations will cooperate with AL’s
orientation programme, Quader said they wanted to know if the representation
of women will be increased in the council or not.

He said the World Bank wants to work with Bangladesh in road safety issue.
“The World Bank has proposed working in road safety issue with Bangladesh.
And we are considering it positively,” the road transport and bridges
minister said.
