Govt takes measures for improving sugarcane farmers’ lots: BSFIC chairman
GAIBANDHA, Sept 24, 2019 (BSS) – Chairman of Bangladesh Sugar and Food
Industries Corporation (BSFIC) and also additional secretary Azit Kumar Pal
yesterday said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina adopted
various steps for improving the lots of sugarcane farmers.
“Not only that, necessary measures have also been taken to modernize the
sugar mills of the country so that the mills can be turned into profitable
industries by producing adequate sugar”, he said.
Chairman of BSFIC Azit Kumar Pal made the comments while addressing a view
exchange meeting with the sugarcane farmers and the employees of Rangpur
Sugar Mills Limited (RSML) at its training complex auditorium at Mahimaganj
under Gobindaganj upazila of the district on Monday afternoon as the chief
guest.
Chairman Azit Kumar Pal also said no sugarcane farmers would be waited for
their prices against their sugarcane further as an initiative had been taken
to pay their prices of sugarcane to be supplied to the mills on priority
basis.
The chairman also urged all particularly the farmers to come forward with
positive attitude to grow sugarcane on the mill zone areas abundantly in
coming seasons aimed at developing and protecting the sugar industries of the
country.
Presided over by managing director of RSML Rafiqul Islam, the function was
also addressed, among others, by sugarcane farmers Zinnat Ali Prodhan,
Ferdous Alam, and Abdur Rashid Dhalu, and worker leaders Abu Sufian Suza and
Mostafizur Rahman.
Earlier, the chairman also went round the different sections of the mills
and talked to the officials and the employees concerned.
