RAB arrests six persons from three northern districts

RANGPUR, Sept 23, 2019 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) arrested six
persons in connections with cheating people, cyber crimes, blackmailing and
terrorist activities from three northern districts in the early hours of
today.

“Acting on secret information, three separate teams of RAB-13 and its Crime
Prevention Special Company (CPSC) arrested the criminals from Dinajpur,
Nilphamari and Rangpur districts,” a press release said this afternoon.

An operational team of RAB-13 arrested three members of an organised gang
of cheats, who had been introducing themselves as officials of the Army,
Police and other organisations from Biral upazila of Dinajpur district.

They realized about Taka 50 lakh from 20 people promising them to provide
jobs in the Army and other organizations.

The arrested persons are Shafikul Islam, 40, Jahangir Alam, 40, and Rassel
Mian, 30, hailing from different villages of Biral upazila of Dinajpur.

Another operational team of RAB-13 conducted a sudden raid at Babupara
area of Rangpur city and arrested listed top terrorist Biplob Billah alias
Helmet Billah, 28, of Uttar Robertsonganj area in the city.

“More than 15 criminal cases and warrants of arrest are pending against the
arrested terrorist in connections with committing robbery, mugging, drug
trading and other crimes with different police stations,” the release said.

Besides, an operational team of the CPSC of RAB-13 arrested two women from
Syedpur Chaumuhani area in Nilphamari in connection with blackmailing and
realising huge amount of money from high profile and rich people through
cyber crime.

The arrested women are Rabeya Basori alias Sompa, 28, of Phulbari upazila
town in Dinajpur and Lena, 32, of village Chaumuhani in Syedpur upazila of
Nilphamari district, the release said.

After filing separate cases against the arrested persons, the elite force
handed them over to the respective police stations this afternoon.
