Speakers for rooting out illegal drugs sources

KHULNA, Sept 23, 2019 (BSS) – Speakers at a seminar today stressed the
need for uprooting all sources of illegal drugs to protect young generation
from its dangerous consequences.

Stern action should be taken against drug peddlers for stopping its easy
availability, they told the seminar on “Harmfulness of drugs and its
smuggling: ways and doings for combating illegal drug trade” held at the
Khulna BGB -21 Battalion headquarters in the city.

BGB -21 Battalion of Khulna organized the day-long seminar with a slogan
“Say no to drug, love yourselves and enjoy your lives.”

Sector Commander of Jashore BGB and also chief of South-West Region
Brigadier General Zalal Gani Khan addressed the seminar as the chief guest
while Khulna Sector Commander of BGB Colonel Arshaduzzaman Khan presided it.

Khulna Civil Surgeon ASM Abdur Razzak, captain of BGB 49 Battalion of
Jashore, Lt Col Md Selim Reza Inspector of Department of Narcotics Control
(DNC) Howlader Md Sirajul Islam, executive director of NGO Mukti Seba
Sangstha Afroja Akter Manju and Khulna Police super SM Shafiullah also spoke
on the occasion.

The chief guest said, “Bangladesh does not produce any illegal drug… We
have to prevent smuggling of illicit drugs from neighboring countries.”

He laid emphasis on massive awareness campaign on harmful effects of all
sorts of illegal drugs alongside taking legal action against drug peddlers.

The speakers said many families are being completely destroyed as youths
of these families are addicted to contraband drugs including Yaba and
phensidyl.

Stressing the need for launching massive motivational campaign on
extremely negative effect of illegal drugs, they said all levels of people
including guardians, teachers and elderly people should work for building an
illegal drug free society.
