UNICEF Bangladesh representative visiting Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Sept 23, 2019 (BSS) – Newly appointed UNICEF representative in
Bangladesh Tomoo Hozumi arrived in Rangpur for the first time on Sunday on a
two-day official visit to Rangpur division.

“After his arrival here, Hozumi accompanied by UNICEF officials and public
representatives started inspecting activities being implemented with
financial assistance of UNICEF at different areas of Rangpur division,” a
press release said today.

On Sunday, the UNICEF representative went to Domar upazila in Nilphamari
district and inspected the child marriage prevention programs being
implemented there by RDRS Bangladesh, an NGO, with UNICEF assistance.

During his visit to Rangpur on the same day, Hozumi had a courtesy meeting
with the representatives of different government and non-governmental
organizations.

He also attended a meeting with UNICEF Rangpur divisional officials and
visited slum areas of Ward No-27 in Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) and
talked to local people living there about their welfare in the afternoon.

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, UNICEF Chief of Rangpur and
Rajshahi Division Najibullah Hameem and Program Officer Hafsa Rahman and Ward
Councilors of RpCC accompanied Tomo Hozumi while visiting slums areas in the
city.

“Tomo Hoozumi will leave here after completing his visit to different
places of Rangpur division on September 24 next,” the release added.
