Bourses bounce back

DHAKA, Sept 22, 2019 (BSS) – Country’s capital bourse, Dhaka Stock
Exchange (DSE) bounced back at the end of today’s session sparked by the
large-cap stocks.

The broad index, DSEX bounced back on the first trading day of the week
and settled in green. The core index, DSEX closed at 4920.96 points with a
gain of 64.98 points or 1.33 percent from the previous day.

Besides, the two selective indices, DSE30 increased by 30.59 points while
DSES increased by 26.97 points to stand at 1766.52 points and 1150.18 points
respectively.

At DSE, a total number of 97,379 trades were executed in today’s trading
session with a trading volume of 66.61 million securities. Of the total, 185
securities gained price while 106 declined and 60 remained unchanged.

The market turnover, however, decreased by 21 percent from last trading
session and stood at Taka 3.04 billion.

Investors exerted buying pressure on telecommunication (1.10%),
pharmaceutical and chemicals (0.42%) and food and allied (0.16%) sectors.

Sector wise performance exposed that telecom (7.3%), pharma (2.6%) and jute
(2.4%) experienced highest price appreciation while paper (-0.2%), life
insurance (-0.1%) and travel (-0.1%) experienced highest price correction in
today’s session.

Investors’ focus was mostly concentrated on pharma (16.9%),
telecommunication (16.8%) and engineering (16.5%) sectors, according to
market operator, EBL Securities.

The top ten gainers were JMI Syringe, Monno Ceramics, Gemini Sea, Beacon
Pharma, GP, Kay and Que, Wata Chemical, Khan Brothers PP Woven, Stylecraft
and CVO Petrochemical Refinery.

Grameenphone led the turnover chart followed by Monno Stafflers, JMI
Syringe, National Tubes, Fortune and Square Pharmaceutical.

The top ten losers were Emerald Oil, Dacca Dyeing, SEML FBSL Growth Fund,
Delta Spinning, EBL, Mithun Knit, GPH Ispat, Primer Life Insurance, Imam
Button and Hamid Fabrics.

On the other hand, the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)
ended the session in green. CSCX and CASPI increased by 115.97 and 185.42
points to stand at 9076.76 points and 14946.02 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 3,846,502 shares and mutual fund of 232 companies were
traded, of which 122 issues advanced while 74 declined and 36 issues remained
unchanged.
